Model of the German Leopard 1A5. Between 1986 and 1992, the Leopard 1 received a combat upgrade that included an improved fire control system. The vehicles upgraded as a result were referred to as the Leopard 1A5.

Belgian Leopard 1A5:
132 Leopard 1s were upgraded to A5 (BE) standard between 22 February 1994 and mid-1997 while the one hundred and twenty-eight non-upgraded Leopard 1s were resold to Brazil between 1997 and May 20001.
On 10 September 2014, the Belgian army disposed of the Leopard tank. Of the last eighty-three examples still in service, forty-eight were put up for sale, twenty-four were put on display and eleven others were used as targets during exercises.
