Four-wheel drive military off-road vehicle manufactured under contract by Bombardier Inc.; Logistics Equipment Division. In 1982, the company acquired the manufacturing and worldwide distribution rights from Volkswagen AG. This vehicle is the first turbo-diesel Iltis model manufactured by Bombardier Inc. It requires a 24-volt electrical system, which is a military specification, as is its off-road speed, which allows it to travel at 4 km/h, adjusted to the walking pace of soldiers. Its watertight body is not armoured or bulletproof.
In 1984, an order for more than 2,500 vehicles was placed for the Belgian armed forces (2,673 were delivered). The last Iltis vehicles were sold in 2018.
