To correct the layout error noted on the “E 50” fast escorts of the “Le Corse” type, the following units, known as the “E 52” type, adopted an inverted configuration of the armament, which nevertheless remained the same, i.e.: three double ACAD model 1951 remote-controlled 57 mm/60 mounts under turrets, two 20 mm Oerlikons, four triple mounts of 550 mm torpedo-launching tubes and a sextuple Bofors Mle 54 375 mm rocket launcher. The torpedo tube mounts are now positioned on the main deck aft of the funnel, and the rocket launcher is positioned in front of the forward 57 mm twin mount. A DRBV 22A combined surveillance radar replaced the DRBV 20A of the previous units. The units ordered in 1952 (known as E 5 to E 11) were to benefit from ‘off-shore’ financing as DE 1007, DE 1008, DE 1009, DE 1010, DE 1011, DE 1012 and DE 1013 in the US Navy's nomenclature.
